**FREE ENTRY** Smoking Vinyl (Front Bar)

Every Friday night from 9pm til round midnight, vinyl will be spun.

The music will be curated by various knowledgeable music nerds such as Jon, DJ Teo and Dr Graeme.
Smoking Vinyl delivers an evening’s selection that can include but will certainly not be limited to music styles such as Afro Jazz, 70’s Funk, Jazz-Rock Fusion and Kraut Rock, as well as pre 80’s Fusion (before Fusak), contemporary Psych Rock, Spiritual Jazz and Swampy Funk. You are very likely to hear the traditional melodies and Afro-Cuban sounds of early West African bands from Guinea, Mali and Senegal. And of course, within this eclectic sonic collage you will recognise tracks by contemporary artists from our local Melbourne music scene.

The musical safari traverses artists such as Fela Kuti, Can, Snarky Puppy, Ibrahim Maalouf, Miles Electric Band, the Miles electric period, Salif Keita, Bembeya Jazz, Super Rail Band, Lafayette Afro Rock Band, Mild Life, Emma Donavan and the Putbacks, Mulatto Estaki with the Black Jesus Experience, Fela Kuti, George Duke, Zappa, Shakti, Bill Laswell remixes, Dumpstafunk, Bootsy Collins, Alice Coltrain, Commets on Fire, Earthless, Hendrix, Ayres Rock, Quasar, Causa Sui, Weather Report, Fred Wesley and the JBs, Jean Luc Ponty, Allan Holdsworth, Fishbone... You get the idea!

Featuring engaging grooves with virtuosic solos, killer horn sections with massive pocket, spiritual soundscapes with languid melodies. No EDM in these sets.
